The CBL linear electric cylinders based on voice-coil-motor (vcm) technology of our partner SMAC aim to replace pneumatic actuators. The CBL Moving-Coil actuators are housed voice coil actuators and with a linear bearing and an integrated AquadB encoder. They offer a much better lifetime than pneumatic actuators and are also much more controllable, both in terms of positioning and force. The housing was designed in such a way that in many cases a retrofit in the plant is possible.
The CBL35 electric cylinder series is also available with an integrated servo controller.

The patented LCA linear moving coil actuators of our manufacturer SMAC are based on voice coil motors (vcm) for short stroke or multi-coil-motors (3-phase ironless linear motors) for longer stroke and are designed for the most demanding applications in automation technology. In both versions of thes electric linear actuators the coil is the moving part, therefore the moving mass of these linear moving coil actuators is very low. The supply voltage is either 24Vdc or 48Vdc.
The LCA Linear Moving Coil Actuators are ideally suited for high-speed applications in packaging machines, label printers, filling lines, pick & place systems, component feed and placement systems and other applications that place high demands on dynamics and precision. The backlash-free linear actuator with precision bearings offers excellent repeatability and long service life. The possibility of indirect force measurement and the ability to also manufacture linear/rotative units make these moving coil actuators ideal e.g. for test and measurement applications in quality assurance for components such as in the automotive industry.

The LAL integrated linear actuators are the predecessors of the LCA moving coil actuators and are still pure voice coil actuators, i.e. single-phase short stroke linear motors and work according to the Lorentz force principle. There are still applications for which no suitable actuator is yet available in the LCA moving coil actuator series, but for which the LAL series with its larger product range can offer a solution.
The other advantages are identical to those of the LCA moving coil actuator series: high dynamics due to low moving mass, high precision due to good bearings and encoder, free positioning, high repeatability of position and force, softland method, long service life ...

The patented LAR linear/rotary actuators are based on the LAL moving coil linear actuators on voice coil motor (vcm) basis and, like these, have been developed for the most demanding applications in automation technology, here with the additional option of combining linear motion with rotary motion.
Both direct-drive motors and motors with gears are used as motors for rotary motion; the resolution of the encoders varies between 4,864 and 20,000 counts per revolution depending on the model. The LAR linear/rotary actuators are mainly used in Pick & Place systems, component feeders and placement systems and in measuring and test systems as well as in other applications that require not only high dynamics and precision in the linear axis but also an adjustment option in the rotary axis. The possibility of indirect force measurement makes these linear/rotary actuators ideally suited for test and measurement applications in quality assurance for components, e.g. in the automotive industry.

The cross tables and xyz tables of the LXY(Z) moving coil actuator series are based on the linear voice coil actuators of the LAL series. They have been developed to meet the requirements of miniaturization also in the field of cross tables. As with all SMAC moving coil actuators, excellent performance is guaranteed by the selection of good components and solid design work.

The voice coil motor (VCM) based grippers of the GRP series of our manufacturer SMAC solve an old problem of automation technology: the probing of an object, whose exact position is not known, with a defined force from two directions of movement. SMAC's voice coil motor based grippers solve this problem by means of two moving coil parts, which are mechanically located on one axis but not coupled, but can be electronically controlled independently of each other due to separeated electrical connection and two independent measuring encoders. Each of the moving coils can be freely positioned and force controlled, resulting in a very flexible and adjustable gripper system. The patented Softland method of SMAC can also be used for the voice coil motor (vcm) based grippers, so that even very sensitive parts can be gripped.
