The R-series servo controllers from Copley can do everything that servo amplifiers for industrial applications can do - only they have been optimised for use in extreme environmental conditions and meet several MIL and other environmental standardards. The servo controllers in the R series are also fully digital servo amplifiers or servo controllers and there are variants for operation on 230Vac mains as well as on DC supplies from 9 Vdc to 180 Vdc. The R series have been developed for mobile applications with increased requirements for shock, vibration, humidity and temperature range such as vehicles and driverless transport systems (AGV), agricultural machinery and agricultural robots and military applications also in outdoor areas.
Copley's R-Series servo controllers are 100% software compatible with industrial servo controllers and therefore offer the same functionality and connectivity. RS-232 for communication with individual commands in ASCII format and indexer functionality (pre-programming and storage of entire programmes and their control via inputs) is possible, as is the CAN bus interface (CANopen, DSP402 profile). Some servo controllers in the R series also offer an optional EtherCAT interface and support various absolute encoders.
In addition to the general features, the R series servo controllers offer the following specifications that qualify them for use in extreme environmental conditions (e.g. outdoors):
The Xenus R10 and R11 servo amplifiers are derived from the Xenus XSJ and XTL and have the same functionality, but with extended environmental options. The supply is single-phase or three-phase at 100 Vac to 240 Vac (interlinked); mains filters must be provided externally. The motor current ranges up to 14.2 Arms continuous.
For the current, speed or position control operating modes, +/-10V (12bit), RS232 or CANopen are available. In addition to incremental encoders (digital or analog), SSI and BiSS-C unidirectional absolute encoders can also be used; resolvers are possible using the Copley CSR module (data sheet Copley CSR Serial-to-Resolver Converter).
The proven CME software is used for commissioning and the other software tools from Copley (optional CANopen libraries for C++ (data sheet CML ) and COM objects (data sheet CMO ) can also be used.

The R20, R21, R22, R23, R42 and R43 servo amplifiers are derived from the Accelnet and Accelnet Plus servo controllers and have the same functionality, but with extended environmental specifications. Power is supplied directly via DC supply at 9 Vdc to 180 Vdc (limited depending on type, see table). The motor current ranges up to 22.6 Arms duration (higher currents in preparation).
For the operating modes current, speed or position control, +/-10V (12bit or 16bit), RS232 or CANopen or EtherCAT are available. In addition to incremental encoders (digital or analog), SSI and BiSS-C unidirectional absolute encoders can also be used with the derivatives of the Accelnet family with the Advanced Feature Set (AFS); the derviatives of the Accelnet Plus family can use other absolute encoders such as EnDAT, Hiperface (external supply required), Absolute A (HD, Tamagawa, Panasonic, Sanyo Denki, Nikon) or Biss; resolvers are possible using the Copley CSR module (data sheet Copley CSR Serial-to-Resolver Converter).
The proven CME software is also used here for commissioning and the other software tools from Copley (optional CANopen libraries for C++ (data sheet CML ) and COM objects (data sheet CMO ) can also be used.

The R44 and R71 servo drives correspond to the previously shown variants R43 and R70 with CANopen and therefore also have the same extended environmental specification - but the R44 and R71 have an EtherCAT interface.
The other technical data, including encoder, operating modes, voltage and currents, correspond to the R43 and R70 servo controller with CANopen and are therefore not explicitly listed again here. The software tools are also identical.
