AKM Washdown (Food) Servomotors (IP67)

The AKM Washdown and AKM Washdown Food servomotors are part of the AKM brushless servo motor family of our manufacturer Kollmorgen . Thanks to a special hygienic coating, stainless steel is only used for the shaft of these hygienic servo motors, which reduces costs while still meeting hygienic standards (up to FDA approval). Together with IP67 seals the AKMW Washdown Servo Motors are suitable for many applications in food, beverage, pharmaceutical and packaging industriy, which are subject to strict hygienic regulations.

AKMA lightweight washdown servomotors with hardened, anodized aluminium coating (IP69K)

The AKMA washdown servomotors belong to the AKM family of brushless servomotors from the manufacturer Kollmorgen. The hardened, anodized aluminium coating of the AKMA servo motors offers high chemical resistance in a wide pH range and withstands the usual cleaning agents used in washdown applications. The coating is less susceptible to scratches, dents and chipping paint than conventional coatings. The stainless steel shaft with chrome oxide insert maximizes shaft seal life. The vented design and "one-piece" housing construction eliminates the need for an O-ring and reduces the risk of water ingress.

 

AKMA servo motors are designed for use in food and beverage processing, pharmaceutical and medical laboratories or outdoor applications such as radar stations and antenna positioners. For this reason, emphasis was placed on a smooth surface for easy cleaning, with tightness class IP69K also for high-pressure cleaning in food applications and also on a round housing design to avoid the accumulation of contaminating droplets.

 

The light weight of AKMA servo motors makes them easier to install and maintain, while their high torque density in a smaller size improves performance in demanding applications.

AKMH stainless steel servo motors (IP69K)

The AKMH servomotors of our manufacturer Kollmorgen are stainless steel servomotors with IP69K protection, designed to meet toughest hygienic requirements. They are available in sizes 2 to 6, with the AKMH2 being the most compact stainless steel servo motor on the market. Simple and quick cleaning results in higher productivity. They are particularly suitable for use in machine areas with aseptic processes.

 

Even at the design stage of the AKMH hygienic stainless steel motors, special attention was paid by our manufacturer Kollmorgen to details that make them easy to use in applications with special hygienic requirements, as no complex protective devices are required, especially in open machines with direct food contact and splash zones:

  • smooth surface (with roughness <0.8μm, all radii R1.5) meeting EHEDG & 3A criteria for fast cleaning
  • surface and lasered type plate prevent dirt deposits and thus germs
  • conical end cap, which prevents water accumulation even when mounted vertically
  • IP69K O-ring seals according to EHEDG and 3A hygienic standards
  • single cable for power and encoder, for increased reliability, faster cleaning, and fewer places to harbor pathogens
  • cable designed to elminate the need for conduit
  • optionally with ventilation valve against condensation inside the motor

 

The most important features of AKMH stainless steel servo motors:

  • protection class IP69K for high pressure cleaning up to 100bar and chemical cleaning (incl. shaft sealing ring and cable outlet)
